  • New standing seam roof installed for long-term resilience
  • Full sports hall roof replacement delivered after 40+ years of deterioration
  • Insulation upgraded to meet current U-value and Building Regulation standards
  • Project funded through the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF)

Project Background

AEC supported the school in delivering a full roof replacement to its sports hall after the existing metal roof and wall cladding system had significantly deteriorated over more than 40 years. Multiple failures had resulted in ongoing water ingress, leading to saturated insulation, damage to internal finishes, and the need for frequent and costly patch repairs.

The project involved the installation of a new standing seam roof, alongside associated upgrade works, extending the building’s lifespan and reducing long-term health and safety risks. New insulation was introduced to bring U-values up to current Building Regulation standards, improving thermal performance and helping to reduce energy costs.

Upgraded rainwater goods also resolved previous flooding issues around the building during periods of heavy rainfall. The completed works have eliminated persistent leaks and removed the need for ongoing reactive maintenance, providing a durable and resilient solution for the future.
