Project Background
The school’s main car park had deteriorated significantly, with surface failures, uneven levels, and areas of subsurface weakness impacting both safety and day-to-day usability. AEC delivered targeted refurbishment works to restore the area and provide a durable long-term solution.
The scheme included excavation of defective sections and reconstruction of the underlying formation to reinstate structural integrity. A new high-quality surfacing system was installed, alongside upgraded drainage improvements to enhance surface water run-off and reduce standing water.
The completed works have provided a safer, more resilient parking facility, improving access and usability for staff, visitors, and the wider school community.
Before:
Existing Deteriorated Parking Area
The original gravel car park was no longer fit for purpose, with significant deterioration, uneven levels, and subsurface weakness impacting day-to-day safety and usability.
During:
Excavation and Reinstatement Works
Defective areas were excavated and the sub-base reconstructed to provide a stable, durable foundation ahead of the installation of a new high-quality surfacing system.
After:
Upgraded Parking Facilities
Following the refurbishment, the car park now offers a significantly improved surface finish, enhanced safety, and reliable access for staff and visitors.
