Project Background
This project delivered the replacement of an existing block to form a new six-classroom teaching facility with associated supporting spaces. Planning approval was secured for a BREEAM-rated building, and as part of the wider design team, AEC coordinated the input of external specialists, including acoustic consultants, thermal modelling engineers, and renewable energy designers to support the sustainability objectives.
Throughout the project, unforeseen site challenges were successfully managed, including level variations within the existing floor structure. Cost-effective mitigation solutions were developed collaboratively to maintain programme and budget.
AEC also worked closely with Approved Inspectors, providing design solutions that enabled more open-plan teaching environments while ensuring fire safety compliance through appropriate management plans.
Sustainability remained central to the scheme, with BREEAM requirements monitored and refined throughout construction. The completed building achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, providing a high-quality, future-focused learning environment for the school.
