Post 16 Fund Outcome

AEC is proud to have helped colleges secure funding to increase post-16 capacity and expand construction skills training provision.

AEC achieves 100% funding success

Through these programmes, £287 million has been allocated nationally for 87 capital projects, creating more than 22,000 additional learner places across England.

The successful schemes will enable colleges to adapt and enhance existing buildings, workshops, and teaching environments to accommodate growing learner numbers and evolving curriculum requirements. Refurbishment and reconfiguration will form an important part of many schemes, alongside new build projects where additional capacity is required.

This achievement reflects the strength of our technical advice, estate planning, and capital funding expertise, together with the robust evidence and project strategies developed in partnership with our clients.
We now look forward to working alongside our successful clients through the next stages of project delivery, while continuing to assist colleges within devolved funding areas to secure investment through upcoming funding programmes.

The Final Years of CIF: Are schools bidding for need or approval?

As the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) programme enters its final years, education leaders across the country are preparing applications for what is widely believed to be the penultimate bidding round. Yet a closer examination of the funding landscape suggests that many cash constrained schools may be underselling their capital needs and, as a result, missing out on the level of investment they genuinely require.
